I have a dedicated playroom with a wide selection of toys which are both enjoyable and educational, including construction (wooden bricks, lego, train tracks...), puzzles and games, role-play (kitchen, tools, doctor’s set...) small world toys (farm animals, doll’s house...), musical instruments and books. Feel free to look at my photo gallery for a selection of the toys and activities on offer.
We use the living room when more space is required, for example for dancing and singing, building big train tracks and playing hide n’ seek.
I offer a large variety of craft activities, linked to our current topics as well as encouraging the childrens’ own imaginations. Resources include paints, pens, crayons, paint-sticks, rainbow painting, glueing, playdough .... Craft activities and meals are offered at the table in the kitchen with younger children in highchairs and booster seats.
We have a lovely, well maintained, enclosed garden with large decking, grass and messy play areas, a vegetable garden, a secret den, a range of equipment - ride-on toys, slide, seesaw, scooters, football goal, Tuff Tray activity table, tents, tunnel ... We also use the outside space to learn about the world around us, collecting leaves, hunting for bugs and watching flowers, fruit and vegetables grow. Children are encouraged to play outside every day.
For children who need a day-time sleep, I have travel cots which are placed in separate bedrooms upstairs so they can sleep undisturbed.
Out and About
We live close to the centre of Hitchin so we aim to walk to most places, using a single or double pushchair. When we do need to drive, I have a fully-insured people carrier with car seats appropriate to every child’s age.
